Official announcement : Citrix CTP appointment (English) Annonce Officielle : Nomination Citrix CTP (Français) I feel very proud and I'm very honored being selected to receive a Citrix Technology Professional (CTP) award. I've always looked all the former CTPs thinking they were great and at the same time thinking I will maybe be among them one day. This is the result of hard work and a lot of shared knowledge. Everything became possible because my company (Activlan) is the greatest one to work in and allow me such freedom to do what I love in my work. Activlan always supported me in all the action and makes me travel all around the world to meet all of you and share information and knowledge. Citrix gave me the opportunity to work several time with them at different level and I deeply appreciate that as well, Education, Consulting, Speaking engagement, I'm very proud to have this bond between our two companies and the trust which is going on. Thanks to Laura Whalen, Serge Rajevic and all people who always push me to go forward in life. Citrix released XenApp 6.5 with a big list of enhancement and improved features : Server Platform Support The XenApp software can be installed on the following platforms. For all system requirements, see System Requirements. Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Microsoft Windows Server 20008 R2 Service Pack 1 Windows Desktop Experience Integration Installed by default when installing the XenApp server role, this feature provides a Windows 7 look and feel including desktop customization. PowerShell script options enable administrators to control desktop and environment defaults while allowing end users to customize their desktops. When installed and enabled, this feature also removes the Windows Server Manager Console from the XenApp server's toolbar and relocates the Citrix XenApp administrative tools such as the AppCenter to the Start menu's Administrative Tools\Citrix folder. See Delivering XenApp to Software Services Subscribers for more information. Citrix AppCenter The AppCenter provides a streamlined interface for performing management functions. From the AppCenter, you can manage components administered through other Citrix products, such as Citrix Secure Access and Citrix Single Sign-On. For Citrix XenApp, you can configure and monitor servers, server farms, published resources, and sessions. Session Pre-launch, Session Linger, and Fast Reconnect This collection of features improves the user experience by eliminating delays when launching and maintaining sessions. By using configurable Session Pre-launch policy settings, a session is started automatically when a user logs on to the farm. By implementing Session Linger policy settings, sessions remain alive for a configurable period before termination, rather than terminating when users close applications.Fast Reconnect, built into XenApp and requiring no configuration, helps minimize delays when users reconnect to existing sessions. Citrix HDX Enhancements XenApp includes the latest HDX enhancements: HDX MediaStream Flash Redirection Audio Settings Multimedia Conferencing with HDX RealTime Increased 2D and 3D Application Scalability and Performance Assigning Priorities to Network Traffic Dynamic Windows Preview Support Migration Center with Graphical User Interface With the choice of using a PowerShell cmdlet command line or graphical user interface, XenApp administrators can import application, folder, server configuration, and other XenApp object types from farms running previous versions of XenApp into XenApp 6.5 farms. See XenApp Migration Center for requirement and installation information. Improved Performance for Pooled Desktops Application launch time in pooled desktop environments is improved through the use of virtual hard disks. Using the Streaming Profiler, virtual hard disks can be created when profiling an application. When the application is launched for the first time,…

2010 has been a blast on certification side. I was clearly late and I decided to get everything done by the end of the year. Now it's done, couple of weeks ago I passed the exam 1Y0-A16 to become a Citrix Certified Integration Architect. First what is it ? CCIA ? The Citrix Certified Integration Architect for Virtualization certification focuses on best practices for analysis and design of Citrix virtualization technologies. By testing a range of skills used to design strategic approaches to virtualization, the CCIA certifies the knowledge required for successful deployments, while providing recognition and credibility to IT professionals.  In addition to the required exams, a minimum level of real-world experience is recommended for candidates who choose to pursue this certification.  As the most advanced Citrix designation, CCIA expertise helps organizations lower implementation costs, increase implementation success rates and reduce implementation time. I remember, few years ago, I was watching CCIA guys with admiration, thinking those guy had very strong skills about virtualization. Now I'm in, it took a while because I wasn't ready before, I mean, understanding Citrix products is one step, but be certain about every component is another, being able to understand the virtualization market is definitely the biggest step I had to take and this one, no one teach it. I've been involve as well this year in the Citrix exam's building process, and it was very important to me because I want these certifications to continue to mean something. I hope I will be able to continue to bring some help to Citrix and continue to be a Subject Matter Expert on the certification they want to renew. (I)My company is currently looking for Citrix engineers and administrators here in France, I've interviewed 15 persons last week and only one really knows the basics (just for XenApp) this is very very hard to find the right people with good knowledge... This is another reason why I want to continue to help with certification exam building process, I want to help to make sure these certifications really mean something. Sources : Citrix Education CCIA
